Requesting items from libraries on campus and the Library Store

Intersite Loan Requests

If you wish to collect a Long Loan book from another library (e.g. an OLRC book from the Main Library or vice versa) please ask a member of staff to place an Intersite Loan Request for you.  You may do this in person or online.

You should allow up to a week for the book to be delivered and you will receive an email when it is ready for collection.

We regret we are unable to transfer Week Loan, Short Loan or Reference books in this way.  Journal volumes are also excluded from this service.

Store Fetching Service

Theses and some older, less frequently used books and periodicals which are held in the Library Store are only available to consult upon request. Theses are restricted to Reference Use Only within the Library, but most books and periodicals are available to borrow.

Pre-1850 Store material

Due to the age and condition of material published before 1850, these items must be consulted in the Cadbury Research Library (home of Special Collections , located in the Muirhead Tower), but should be requested in the same way as other Store material as follows:

Requesting an item from the Store

Please note that the Store Fetching service operates on Mondays to Fridays only.
We regret there is no fetching service on Bank Holidays.

Store items appearing on the Library Catalogue should be requested using the “Request from Store” link in their item record, which may be found after following the "Show details" link for the item.

Items on the Card Catalogue online that are held in the Store are marked “Store”

  • Find the card for the item you would like to request,
  • Move your mouse cursor over the card and left click.
  • At the next screen left click on the “Locate” button.
  • Scroll down to the bottom of the locations information and complete the online form
  • Choose “post request”.

Can I request an item from Store if I’m a visitor?

Yes, but we strongly advise you contact Library Customer Support a few days before your visit to ensure the item will be available for you to consult when you arrive.  The fetching service does not operate on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays, but we can usually retrieve items before then so that they are available to collect from the Lending Desk.  Please also check our opening hours before you visit.
